Abstract

Small business owners have big dreams of success, but they often find themselves bogged down with tedious tasks like book-keeping and tax filing. This is where Accounting Automation comes in. In this talk, I’ll share Intuit’s solution to ease the load for small business owners.

Transaction categorization sounds simple, but it’s actually a complex process, made even trickier by the need for personalization and a diverse customer base. We’ve broken down the problem into manageable parts based on customers’ life-cycle stages, and created solutions to address their specific pain-points. With the help of modern ML technologies like deep neural networks and transfer learning, we are able to accurately categorize transactions and simplify the accounting workflow. Confidence scores from our trusty ML models help us streamline the whole process for small business owners.
